1. Activities 2005-2006

Documentary film "Baduy music and life 1976-2003; Change in a minority group in West Java, Indonesia"
This is the working title of a film in progress (ca 75 minutes), made with Nick de Heer (editing). The film is based on the fieldwork materials that are archived.

Archiving audiovisual fieldwork recordings, June 2006-present

1. Documentation audio recordings music southern Malawi, 1969-1971;
2. Documentation film and audio recordings made in Indonesia from 1976-2005. This includes the Super-8 film and audio recordings on reels 1976-1979, S-VHS video (1990-1999) and digital video (2001-2005), cassette recordings (1981-1990), DAT recordings (1992-2001) and Minidisk recordings (2003)

Fieldwork in West Java, 27 February - 7 April 2005

1. Tembang Sunda Cianjuran music;
2. Music and Islam in West Java.

- Presentation for the Music Department of the Dance, Music and Theatre conservatory (STSI) Bandung, 8 March 2005, on methods and techniques of ethnomusicological research (see below).

- Keynote address at the Seminar in commemoration of Uking Sukri, STST Bandung, 2 April 2005, about the role of Uking Sukri, the world of the instrumentalists and the development of Tembang Sunda Cianjuran (see below).

- Interviewed for Radio (RRI) Bandung: during Tembang Sunda Cianjuran broadcasts (1, 8 March, 5 April) and by Nano S. in programme about Sundanese performing arts (21 March 2005).
- Interviewed with Euis Komariah and Dian Hendrayana by Pak Kus for Bandung TV, 31 March 2005.

International Council for Traditional Music (ICTM)

- At the world conference in Sheffield, 3-10 August 2005:
Elected by the membership as Vice President for 2005-2009;
Appointed by the Executive Board as Programme Chair for the 39th ICTM world conference in Vienna, 4-11 July 2007.

- Representing ICTM (UNESCO affiliated NGO) at the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in Algiers, Algeria, 18-19 November 2006. This committee is in charge of implementing UNESCO’s International Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (2003).
